Behavior System- Warm Fuzzies
In our classroom, we are using the Warm Fuzzy behavior system to encourage good choices and kind actions. Throughout the day, the students have numerous opportunities to earn the fuzzies (pom-poms), which are then added to their personal cups. These opportunities include using kind words, staying respectfully quiet in the hallways, and following directions. Children can also be "caught being good," such as when they help friends without prompting, which also results in added fuzzies.
At the end of the week, the students can trade in fuzzies for prizes at the Warm Fuzzy Shop. This will benefit their growing understanding of simple math, transactions, and saving.
Birthdays
On your child's birthday, he or she may have a dress-down day and invite a special guest to come and read a book to the class. Those with summer birthdays can celebrate on their half-birthdays or at the end of the year before vacation. This year, we are able to bring in little non-edible favors for our friends (bubbles, pencils, etc.) or fun plates and napkins to use at snack time. We are not able to share edible treats due to the food policy.
Homework
Each Monday, starting in October, the students will begin to receive homework that reviews and reinforces skills that we have learned and are learning. These can be completed in any time-frame throughout the week, but they must be returned on Fridays.
Communication
If your child will not be in school, if there is a change in pick-up, or if you would like to schedule a conference, please let me know through email. Any changes in pick-up should also be communicated to Mrs. Lawless.
